Clear Creek Intermediate School

2019-2020 Cell Phone Policy

Cell phone use during the instructional day often makes it difficult for students to maintain their focus on instruction and learning. Students at CCI may have their cell phones with them during the day, with the following guidelines:

  • Cell phones, earbuds, AirPods, headphones and any other personal technology devices may not be visible during the school day, in any part of the school building (including hallways and bathrooms), after the morning announcement to power down. A morning announcement will be made each day to remind students to turn off their devices. Dual Language students are not allowed to have devices visible during “0” period. ACE students are not allowed to have devices visible during the morning or afternoon session.
  • No technology is allowed during class change. Students may not have earbuds or AirPods in their ears or hanging from their neck. Headphones may not be worn on the head, around the shoulders or anywhere on the student.
  • Personal devices, including, but not limited to cell phones, earbuds, AirPods, headphones and other personal devices, must be placed in the student’s string bag, purse or locker. Personal devices may not be carried in a pocket or in any other clothing area.
  • If cell phones and other personal technology devices are visible during the school day, they will be picked up by a staff member and brought to the Student Center.
  • 1st Offense - The device will be confiscated, and the parent or guardian will be contacted. The phone or other personal technology will be returned to the student at the end of the day.
  • 2nd Offense- The device will be confiscated. A parent or guardian may pick up the device from the Student Center at the end of the school day.
  • 3rd Offense or More- The device will be confiscated. There is a $15.00 fee for the 3rd and additional offenses. The parent/guardian may pick up the phone and pay the fee at the end of the school day.
  • Students who fail to surrender devices will receive ISS.
  • Students may ask permission to use the school phone in the Student Center if they need to speak with a parent or guardian.
  • A parent or guardian may call the Front Desk if they need to get in touch with their child. The Front Office will deliver the message or have the student call home.
  • Students will need to bring their charged laptop to school each day for instructional purposes.
  • If an evacuation is called, students may take their cell phones with them to the new location. In accordance with CCISD safety procedures, students are prohibited from using all telecommunications devices in an emergency unless authorized by a teacher or staff member.
